Beyond the interdisciplinary combination of history and politics or political history), the History and Politics Lab aims to analyze academically the past which tends to be politically invented or distorted. Various present political views tend to distort or invent historical past. Thus, a political analysis is a sine qua non to see historical events or people as “the past as it was (wie es eigentlich gewesen ist).”
The History and Politics Lab welcomes all researchers using historico-political approaches in various fields of study, including the History of Korean Politics and Diplomacy, History of International Relations, History of Security, History of Korea-US relations, History of Korea-Japan relations, History of Korea-Russia relations, and History of Korea-China relations (Not only the PRC, but also the ROC and Taiwan).

역사정치학은 단순히 ‘역사학과 정치학의 학제적 융합’이나 정치사일 뿐만 아니라, 현재의 관점에 의해 정치적으로 왜곡되거나 발명되는 과거(passé)에 대한 정치학적 분석을 통해 과거의 진실에 접근하고자 합니다. 역사적 사건이나 인물에 관한 학술적 연구는 현재의 정치적 관점에 영향을 받아 왜곡될 가능성이 크기에, 역사적 인물이나 사건을 정확히 파악하기 위해서는 현재의 시점에 예속되어 과거를 바라보기보다 전(前)과거로 돌아가 지금과 다른 시간과 공간에 속한 대상을 “있던 그대로의 과거(wie es eigentlich gewesen ist)”로 파악하는 접근이 필요합니다.
역사정치학 랩은 역사정치학적 접근 방식을 공유하는 다양한 연구자들의 융합적 연구를 지향합니다. 한국정치외교사, 국제정치사, 외교사, 안보학, 한미관계사, 한일관계사, 한러관계사, 한중관계사(중화민국, 타이완 포함) 등 다양한 학문 분야의 연구자들이 참여 가능합니다.
